About Me

Hi there! I'm Alex and welcome to my website. I've been working as a design engineer since 2015 and more recently have gotten in to birding as a hobby. I started paying attention to birds while growing up in my hometown of Decorah Iowa. I never really progressed from basic knowledge of the birds in that area, to me every warbler was a Goldfinch and every bird of prey was a Bald Eagle or Red-Tailed Hawk. I got back into birding in 2022 and I’m very glad that I did!

Soon after I started birding again, I realized how useful it is to be able to take photos of birds you want to show off or want to identify later. I spent ages bringing my phone to my scope's eyepiece following the white dot. Inevitably any bird that I wanted to photograph would fly off before I could even get it in view of my camera. Those issues quickly led me to wanting a digiscoping adapter.

When I looked at the adapters on the market I was discouraged by either their cost, awkward shape, or usability. This quickly led me to wanting to just design my own adapter to use on my scope. I iterated through many designs and eventually landed on one that I was happy with. After talking with others in my local birding community I realized that this may be something that others would be interested in which led to this website!

About the Adapter

The adapter you are ordering is approximately revision… 20? Initially I was making phone cases with embedded magnets that would inevitably break. They were good but not as good as I wanted. I eventually landed on simply sticking a magnetic block to an existing phone case and having an adapter that went from phone to eyepiece. That has worked out great and now I don’t have to bug all of my friends and family for the dimensions of their phones.

Aside from the hardware, every part of these adapters was designed by me, manufactured by me, and assembled by me. I’m a big fan of garage grown gear and these adapters are quite literally made in my garage. Thanks for visiting!
